ABOVE: "WATER SHORTAGE" by Art-Bob. Many ex-servicemen will remember their own experiences when water for bathing was a prime problem and every drop had to give maximum service. Fortunately most of us now have all the water we need, and the wise bodybuilder or athlete who wants smooth attractive skin free from defects follows every workout with a quick warm soapy shower, then a cool rinse. Few of the highly advertised skin preparations have any "magical qualities" which personal cleanliness alone will not achieve. (Note that all must be applied to clean skin.) Diet of course plays a major role in healthy skin condition, since the skin is one of the body's outlets for unwanted poisons.

DOES YOUR APPETITE NEED "RE-EDUCATION"? Except in quite exceptional cases a person's weight and health can be directly related to the quantity and quality of the food that he eats. Poor food habits may have been developed which make him "satisfied" with a small quantity of the wrong kind of foods and then he will be skinny. Conversely, he may have developed tastes for large quantities of rich high calorie foods which. pile on flabby fat. Good books on nutrition (published by concerns who have no pills to sell you) should be studied and a comprehensive calorie counter kept close by. Before long, the appetite actually learns to like foods it previously found quite impossible, or perhaps to be content with a moderate quantity which in the past would have been regarded as undue privation. Most of the pills, dieting aids, passive massages, electric shock treatments etc are a complete waste of money (except for a possible psychological stimulus)Weak-willed individuals may get temporary help from dangerous drugs, but only a positive, realistic (not overly drastic) program will set a man's dietary habits in good order.
